Dear everyone in KamiHayakawa!
The summer heat is still around but the autumn breeze is coming soon. I hope that everyone is doing fine!
During September, I will host a guest from Switzerland who is working at a famous and very old Swiss company in Zurich as a cartographer, making high quality tourist maps for Switzerland and others countries. His name is Markus and he is going to stay at my Kominka in Tsuchikura. Markus will travel around the Hayakawa valley, on foot and by bicycle, from the ocean to the mountain top in order to explore the potential for sustainable tourism in Itoigawa with a focus on the Hayakawa valley.
I am sure that you will meet him here and there as he is a rather tall guy. He has some very basic knowledge of the Japanese language, hence, please take the opportunity to communicate with him. Your inputs will help him to better understand the potential of our beautiful valley!
I will sometimes be with him and I look forward to meeting you on our way in the Hayakawa valley.

まだ夏の暑さは続いていますが、もうすぐ秋風が吹いてきます。皆さんお元気でお過ごしのことと思います。

9月には、スイスやその他の国々の非常に高品質な観光マップを作っている、有名でとても伝統あるスイスの会社で地図製作者として働いているゲストを迎えます。名前はマーカスといい、土倉の私の古民家に泊まる予定です。早川渓谷を中心とした糸魚川での持続可能な観光の可能性を探るため、マーカスは徒歩と自転車、海から山頂までの早川全体を周遊する予定です。
彼はかなり背が高いから、あちこちで会うと思います。彼は日本語の基本的な知識を持っていますので、ぜひコミュニケーションをとってみてください。あなたからの情報は、マーカスがこの早川の美しい谷の可能性をよりよく理解するのに役立つでしょう！

Dear All,
My name is Markus Hauser. I am 49 years old and I live in Winterthur, the 6th largest city of Switzerland just north of Zurich. Since my childhood I am in love with maps and so I became a professional Cartographer at Orell F?ssli in Zurich over 30 years ago. My company has a very old background, as the mother company was founded in 1519. We are celebrating this year our 500 years anniversary!
I would like to use my knowledge and love for Japan to do a research in the Hayakawa valley. I am coming to your lovely valley in the coming September for 3 weeks and looking forward to meet you and discuss with you the potential for sustainable tourism.

さらっと書かれていますが、上記の内容は実はすごい事なんです。マーカスさんはオレル・フュズリ社の社長さんです。世界有数の観光エリアの地図を手掛け、山岳地図の優れた技法を持ち、２年をかけて大雪山系旭岳周辺の地図も作成しています。日本語、英語、その他２，３か国語併記で、有益な情報、解説も入った美しい地図を作成する会社です。３週間のフィールド調査、姿を見かけたら是非声をかけてお話ししてみてください（なんだかドキドキ！）。将来（数年後？）地図が完成したら、美しい早川渓谷を訪ねて多くの外国人が訪問するかもしれません♪自然豊かなこの上早川で生活し、直接世界にも触れられる、うれしいことですね～(*^-^*)　みんなで応援！！
