上早川地区の皆様へ！

Dear everyone, spring is gradually approaching and I hope that everyone in the Hayakawa valley is doing well!
皆さん、だんだん春が近づいてきましたが、お元気でお過ごしのことと思います！

Marvin from Switzerland is with us since March 2nd, helping at the Sasakura Onsen as a volunteer. Marvin would like to improve his Japanese language skills, hence, please take the opportunity to meet and talk to him.
スイス出身のマーヴィンさんが3月2日から、ボランティアとして笹倉温泉を手伝っています。マービンさんは日本語を上達させたいと思っていますので、ぜひ会って話してみてください。

Hello everyone! Whilst I am writing this, it has been two weeks since my arrival in Itoigawa. I never thought that it is possible to experience so much great moments in such a short time.
皆さんこんにちは！これを書いているいま、糸魚川に着いて2週間が過ぎました。こんなに短い時間でこんなに素晴らしい時を経験できるとは思いませんでした。

My stay started already with a big event. Rolf M?l-ler and I had the pleasure to greet the Swiss-Marathon-Team in Itoigawa which ran in Tokyo through the worst weather. After the delicious Ramen-Soup at the Sasakura Onsen, where the group stayed and which is my home for the next sev-eral months, we took a relaxing bath in the nice Onsen. But of course not before we got a detailed briefing by Rolf, how to do it right. Which was really needed for all of us I think.
私の滞在は早くも大きなイベントから始まりました。ミュラーさんと私は、最悪の天候の中、東京を走っていたスイス・マラソン・チームに糸魚川で会うことを楽しみにしていました。スイスマラソンチームの滞在先であり、私の数か月間の家でもある笹倉温泉で美味しいラーメンを頂いた後、素敵な温泉でゆっくりとお風呂に入りました。もちろん、ロルフさんから詳細な説明を受けてから入りましたよ。それらの説明を受けることは、私たち全員に本当に必要だったと思います。

The day after a good rest got a little busy again. But therefore we got a day loaded with the incomparable Japanese culture. First, we did a beautiful walk through the snow.
You wouldn’t have thought that they ran a marathon just two days before, because they were really fast. I had to run after my group, yelling, and force them to pause, just to pour them a warming cup of Amazake. It was really funny and abso-lutely worth it. After a delicious bento for lunch we went to the Tsukimizunoike Brewery. We were honored to get guided by Inomata Shuzou through the brewery followed by a tasting of finest Nihonshu. Even the press joined us. After drinking the delicious Nihonshu from Inomata-San we hitted the road again to visit the ongoing Sumo whilst their training. I was impressed what force those young fighters are able to muster. Keep it up!
ゆっくり休んだ次の日もまた少し忙しくなりました。しかし、結果として、その日は比類のない日本文化に満ちていた。まず、雪の中をきれいに散歩しました。
2日前にマラソンをしたとは信じられないくらい、彼らは本当に早かったです。私は彼らに温かい甘酒をふるまうために、グループの後を追いかけ、大声で叫び、休んでいてもらわなければなりませんでした。本当におもしろかったし、その価値は絶対的でした。昼食の美味しいお弁当を食べた後、月不見の池の醸造所に行きました。猪又酒造さんの案内で酒蔵の中を案内していただき、素晴らしい日本酒を味わうことができ光栄でした。マスコミも私たちに合流しました。猪又さんから美味しい日本酒いただいた後、稽古中の相撲を訪問するために出発しました。私はその若い力士たちがどれほどまでに強くなるのだろうと感銘を受けました。がんばってください!

Like the bread crumbs leaded Hansel and Gretel in a famous German fairytale, the Nihonshu and his lovers from Itoi-gawa guided me through this first two weeks. The following weekend, Inomata-Shuzou invited me to join their booth at the Sake no Jinn in Niigata. This day in Niigata together with the Tsukimizunoike Brewery was that great, I can’t even find the right words to describe it. But I’m already getting goosebumps again just writing about and remembering it.
ドイツの有名なおとぎ話で、パンくずがヘンゼルとグレーテルを導いてくれたように、この最初の二週間は、糸魚川の日本酒にかかわる諸々が、私を導いてくれました。次の週末、猪又酒造さんが新潟の酒の陣のご自分のブースに招待してくれました。月不見の池醸造所さんと過ごした新潟でのこの日は、素晴らしすぎて、それを表現するのにふさわしい言葉が見つけられません。今も、それについて書いたり思い出したりするだけで、また鳥肌が立ってきました。

A few days after the Sake-Fair, I got invited to the celebration for 5 years Cross-Kanpai-Worldrecord. This evening was awesome. In Europe one says, that Japanese people can’t drink. After this event I am sure, that those who say that, never had a blast with folks from Itoigawa. They would definitely get proven wrong. You are amazing! And that not just for your drinking abilities. But for just being great people. Thank you so much!
酒祭りの数日後、私はクロス乾杯世界記録５周年のお祝いに招待されました。この夜は最高でした。ヨーロッパでは、日本人は飲めないと言われています。このイベントの後、それを言う人たちは、糸魚川の人たちとにぎやかにパーティーをしていないに違いないと確信しました。彼らははっきりと間違っていることがわかるでしょう。みなさんは素敵です！お酒が強いということだけでなく、素晴らしい人々であるからです。どうもありがとうございます！
